I recently stayed at The Rock Hostel in Matera for a few days while exploring the city. The hostel was new and incredibly clean, with all the necessary amenities in the kitchen. The spacious bedrooms had plenty of room for luggage and even had private lockers. The staff, especially Francesca at the reception desk, were extremely friendly and helpful, providing excellent recommendations for affordable and high-quality restaurants. I was impressed with their commitment to recycling and overall care for the guests. The hostel's location was perfect, being close to the Sassi and a supermarket.
Would be happy to recommend this hostel.

The bathroom in the dorm room was amazing, with two showers, sinks, and toilets. The free coffee and tea were a nice touch, and the brand new dishes and appliances were a bonus. Plus, the staff member, Francesca, was incredibly kind and helpful, giving me a detailed description of the surrounding area and providing a map. She even did my laundry for a small fee. The hostel had beautiful vaulted ceilings with fossils embedded in them, which was really cool.
The shower curtain that kept blowing into the shower and sticking to my body. It would have been better if there was a door or something to prevent this from happening.

The location is fantastic, just a short walk from one of the best viewpoints of the Sasssi. the rooms are clean and tastefully designed, with interesting half-vaulted bathrooms. the owner, Francesca, is incredibly accommodating and helpful, going out of her way to assist her guests. She even called the bus company to confirm the schedule during snowy weather. the hostel provides a well-equipped kitchen and common area, perfect for socializing with other guests.
The lack of air conditioning may be uncomfortable during hot weather, although windows can be opened to allow ventilation.

The nearest airport was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Thank goodness, I didn't have to take a carriage ride to get here!
Oh, the shower curtains were just delightful. They were so fabulous, I couldn't help but want to replace them myself.
